The X6 40i is powered by a 335-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that features a 48-volt hybrid system and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The M50i has the same transmission and all-wheel drive, too, but its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 is significantly more powerful. Its 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque helped it rocket to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds at our test track. Our test of the V-8-powered X6 revealed its impressive cornering grip and stopping power. Unsurprisingly, the X6 interior looks and feels like most other new BMW products. That means upscale materials and soft-touch surfaces abound, and two large 12.3-inch digital displays dominate the dashboard. The standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It operates through various functions such as traditional buttons, voice commands, a rotary controller on the center console, and even hand gestures. The company's iDrive interface has crisp graphics and immediate responses. The BMW X6 offers heft-defying acceleration and handling. . Considered separately to the X6 M, there's still lots to love about the regular X6, from its base six-cylinder variant to its range-topping X6 M50i model, which produces more than enough power to make the X6 M seem a little irrelevant. Despite its sporty styling and performance-minded deposition, the X6 is remarkably compliant and comfortable. Overall, the blend of grip, steering accuracy, and minimal body roll makes the X6 a brilliant vehicle to play with. The Dynamic Handling package that adds active roll stabilization and Integral Active Steering is no longer available for the xDrive40i from this year, but only for the M50i, sharpening up the handling significantly. For an electrically-assisted steering setup, this is brilliant. The BMW X6 series of vehicles, which comprises only a six-cylinder variant and a V8 M-fettled model, is more compelling than ever before.
