It offers serious performance as well as the ability to carry four people and some groceries. If abundant power and precision handling top your list but four doors aren't your thing, look to the 2025 BMW M4. It's the coupe and convertible version of BMW's legendary M3 sedan, with two fewer doors but no less ferocity. The relatively compact-sized M4 generates speed and exhilaration like few others, sprinting from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds in our testing and carving bends in the road with a sushi master's finesse. In some cars, the price for performance can be punishment: stiff ride, loud interior. But the price of the M4 doesn't allow for compromise. The ride is firm but not jarring thanks to the standard adaptive suspension. There's enough room for adults in the back seat and, at 12 cubic feet, a reasonably large and practical trunk. How does the M4 drive? We've tested the full range of M4s at our test track, and they range from fairly quick to blistering fast. At the slower end is the standard M4 with the six-speed manual. Because it's rear-wheel-drive and still plenty powerful, it's far more difficult to launch from a standstill. As a result, its 0-60 mph time is only 4.4 seconds, where the fire-breathing, quick-shifting and all-wheel-drive Competition model does the trick in a scant 3.3 seconds. Power from the engine is immense, but it remains docile and easy to drive around town. Hows the tech? The M4 features the latest in-car tech BMW has to offer, including its latest single dashboard display that houses both the instrument panel and the touchscreen infotainment interface. Every M4 is outfitted with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a slick-looking infotainment system that features a large 14.9-inch touchscreen. The M4 comes with a mix of standard and optional driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning and parking sensors. Overall, BMW does a nice job of tuning these features to be helpful without being overly sensitive. The M4, in whichever model you choose, is a rapid yet sophisticated coupe with equal measures of poise and performance.
