The upgraded 2006 Duramax 6600 Diesel V8 has been significantly revised to deliver lower emissions, improved quietness, more power and a class-leading 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The new transmission is the first six-speed automatic in its class, and it incorporates such leading edge features as tap-up/tap-down controls. What is unchanged in the 2500HD and 3500 is their awesome hauling capabilities, with GVWRs that go up to 5171 kg (11,400 lb.) and GCWRs up to 10,660 kg (23,500 lb.).
