Even though I lean more towards Fiesta and Focus STs for my flavor of hot hatches, I'm always excited to drive competitors. This GTI did not disappoint, it is exactly what you'd expect from a modern VW: very refined and compliant ride, sharp steering and high engagement in the corners. The 7-speed DSG is also insanely smooth and quick-shifting, the 6-speed manual will always have my heart but this is a great choice for a daily driver. The only downside to this car was the capacitive touch buttons that litter the interior. From the steering wheel controls to the volume slider, they're pretty inconvenient and annoying to use. However, they are usable and the infotainment system is responsive through touch. Overall, a fantastic daily driver that would satisfy any car enthusiast!
