If the mission statement was to create a coupe that's hard to fault, then BMW has done a solid job. How comfortable is the 4 Series? The way the 4 Series takes care of its passengers makes it an excellent choice for covering long distances. The 2020 4-Series is classic BMW, with a pleasantly firm ride and terrific handling. The 430i is powered by a zesty 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder. . Rear-wheel drive is standard, but all models can be equipped with all-wheel drive. Both engines provide more than enough forward thrust to keep things interesting. Its chassis instantly adapts to the spirited nature of twisty backroads or the relaxed comfort of black-top boulevards. Still, the BMW is at its best blitzing down a curvy road where its body motion is minimal. A sports car's interior must cater to the driver, and a luxury car's must be comfortable. The 4-Series accomplishes both, with an excellent driving position and spacious passenger accommodations. Hows the interior? BMW set up the 4 Series with driving comfort in mind. We like the wide range of seating adjustments and thoughtful ergonomics. The iDrive media controller, for example, helps declutter the interior of needless buttons. Since the 4 Series is a true coupe, you sit with legs outstretched, but a generously telescoping steering wheel makes it easy to find a comfortable driving position. Thanks to a full-size rear window and unobtrusive roof pillars, outward visibility is quite good. The 2020 BMW 4-Series gets the vintage formula correct with good power in a compact shape. Handsome and understated, the 2020 4-Series has the right proportions and look. Every powertrain available in the 4-Series is a good one. Three body styles, two engines, up to four driven wheels, not one bad pick. The 430i uses a 248-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 thats good for sprints up to 60 mph in less than six seconds. Paired to rear- or all-wheel drive, with an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual, the base engine is engaging and bright, especially with the smooth shifting 8-speed. All coupes, convertibles, and Gran Coupes can be fitted with BMWs all-wheel-drive system, which it calls xDrive. The system defaults to a 40/60-split, front to rear, but can move power around to slipping wheels within milliseconds. Its one of our favorite all-wheel-drive systems, notably because its rearward bias gives us all the good sports car feels.
